Crocheting My Life Back: Update 6

Thoughts on my weekly change
I really didn't do a whole lot this last week. I weighed myself on Friday and was actually up to 302 - by that I had gained 7 pounds overnight. I wasn't able to blog on Friday and honestly, with a number like 302, it didn't hurt my feelings any.

Saturday night was spent in the ER with a freakishly high pulse and chest discomfort. Now - keep in mind, I don't think I had a heart attack and that's what the doctor's said as well. But I didn't like how I felt and it totally freaked me out. I don't know what I did or what was going on.... but I went. I ended up getting the ok as far as heart attack but did walk away with a heart monitor for 24 hours.

I will be turning the monitor in tomorrow after work and I will be making an appointment with my regular physician as well. In the end - I really do think I'm going to ask about bariatric surgery. I need to find out what it entails and just how much my insurance will cover. I feel like a failure for considering it but at the same time, I cannot continue to live at this size. It may not have been a heart attack on Friday night but it will be one eventually - I need help losing this weight.

Now - I may or may not have it done, but I need to do something.

Things I have changed in the last week
I didn't do the stairs in big sessions like I have in previous weeks but I'm trying to take the stairs more as I move floor to floor - and that adds up.

Things I want to do next week
I really don't know... any suggestions?

Picture Time
No pictures this week as I haven't hit a 10 pound milestone.

Hi Cris,

Don't feel like a failure. Being overweight is a disease and it takes time to shape up. From my own experience with disease the body is malnurished and once you provide your body with the proper nourishment the food cravings and excess weight will come off.

For me it has been freshly made fruit and vegetable juices, wheat grass juice in particular, that did the trick. They say that an ounce of fresh wheatgrass juice is like eating one (or is it two) kg of leafy greens. It totally cleanses the body, reduces appetite and gives you strength to on.

You could also start doing fruit and vegetable smoothies for breakfast or as snacks. Handful of greens (spinach, kale, collards), a banana, some yogurt, and your choice of fresh fruits, blueberries, mango, orange, pineapple etc. blend it up and enjoy.

Not saying that that's the answer for you, but I would encourage you to do your own research on that before you do the surgery. What's works for one may not necessarily work for another.

Just thought I'd offer my tips because you asked for suggestions. :)

Hope it all works out for you.

I don't know how old you are, but believe it or not...it has something to do with it. Just stay the course..move just a little more and eat just a little less....AND STOP GETTING ON THE SCALE SO OFTEN!!!! every two weeks is better..We are right here with you...HUGS....

Thanks... I sadly admit I get on the scale twice a day... That is a terrible habit I picked up from my weight loss 3 years ago. I got to the point I had to see the fluctuations. If I didn't see them and one day weighed 7 pounds heavier than I did 2 weeks prior, I'd flip... if I weight daily, then I know its just a weird fluctuation.

As for age, I'm 36 soon to be 37.

Thank you for the suggestions! I actually did pick up a gluten free, vegetarian protein mix this weekend. I tried it this morning and I liked it enough that I would do it daily for breakfast. I like making my own juices but I admit I do not like cleaning out my juicer (no dishwasher grrr).

I don't know if I'd do the surgery or not but am hoping that if I ask him about it, maybe we can come up with some sort of treatment plan of options - I know I don't want to take pills.... but I really need something because I feel like this weight is killing me.

Thank you, Sara - I'm trying. I am just sooo frustrated right now. :/

Yes making the juice and cleaning the juicer are two different things. But you're definitely on the right track by getting a protein mix. I don't blame you for not wanting to take pills but it gets hard when you get stuck between a rock and hard place and nothing seems to work. It's good that you are doing your research and I'm sure whatever you decide to do will work out in the end.

You can do it, just hang in there.
