Project Percentage Complete: 76%
Overall Percentage Complete: 81%

Number of Project Items: 21
Number of Added Items: 152

Boy oh boy! What a week of crochet. I have been testing out my Faux Boob pattern for all the different cup sizes. I really think I'm going to have to take my bag o' boobs to Walmart and try them in some of the bras there. I know its going to look strange, but I really think it'll help me gauge if I'm on target with them.

If you are curious about why I'm making faux breasts, then you need to keep your eyes peeled on my blog as I have joined Crochet Concupiscence's project called 12 for 12. I will be posting my check-in post later today, so please keep your eyes peeled for that. I know I'll definitely do the 2 check-ins per month, but I don't think I'll have a list totally ready by then. I want to research each group/project I find and see if it is something that I can donate locally rather than sending it off. I really do advocate for donating locally first and then branch out. I know there is a lot of need here in this city and I'd like to try and help it. So - yea, that post is coming soon.

Other than that, I have started a scarf for an order. It started out as knit but I know it'll go a lot faster in crochet. So I made the executive decision to frog it and start over in crochet. I'm about 1/4 done with it and I've only been working on it for about an hour. Not to shabby. Because I've added some new items that aren't done, then my overall percentage has gone down a little.... but that's ok!

I should be posting my FOTH video (Fresh off the Hook) this Monday.

I'm also going to be announcing a bit of a job/contest related to iYarny in the next few days. Keep a look out for that one! As for iYarny, we had our second meet this last Thursday. There were two other gals and I had a great time chatting with them. So, if you have some time available during our meet-up times, don't be too shy to join. You don't have to go on camera but you do have to have fun! *smiles*

OH - and yes, we are looking at having more meet-up times.

Thank you all again for being such a wonderful support system for my crochet efforts. I really do appreciate every comment made and I feel like I am really getting to know those of you who regularly read my blog.

Happy Crocheting!
- Cris

Love the 12 in 12 idea, but I'm pretty sure you'll garner some odd looks in the lingerie department with your Faux boobs! I'd chicken out and just buy the bras to try out the crocheted boobs at home. Your crafting schedule sounds very hectic; I don't envy you that!

There is a group in Knoxville that does the crocheted boobs too.  I have decided to start trying to make blankets and dh mentioned that hed like me to make blankets for the dialysis(sp) center.  Someone made him one while he was waiting for his kidney transplant and he wanted me to make some for him to take them.  So, I guess I have a new ministry.  I do hats and scarves and shawls for the cancer center and someone mentioned they would like a blanket, so I decided to try that, then when dh found out he made his request.  I think it's great that you are doing this, more people need to get involved.

I think donating locally is a great thing to do. I set aside December to make sure that I donate locally, hopefully in a more hands-on way, maybe through teaching local kids to crochet or something. And I chose one local hospital for my list. Good stuff.

I agree with Florence it's such a nice feeling to donate something locally that makes a difference. I like your faux boobs, very clever idea, I've seen the knitted ones too as Sarah from Crafts from the Cwtch was making some a month or so ago.

Your dog looks happy as larry playing.....while the cats away, dog will play?

The dog is so cute!  What a great idea for testing your boobs at Walmart.

Good luck with the "bag o' boobs"! I'd be tempted to ask Walmart if they want to help in any way, I'm sure they'd welcome the publicty.

LOL .. I can only imagine the looks you'll get with those faux boobs in Walmart.  Maybe we'll see you in one of those People of Walmart emails that go around.  Your dog looks as if he/she is having fun.

If you do see a strange woman with crochet boobs and bras of many sizes - it would be me LOL

The Walmarts here are actually very generous. I have not thought of asking them to assist although other than yarn and stuffing donations, I don't know if there is much more they could do for this particular adventure. Bras, maybe?

Thanks :P

I want to try and keep it as local as possible. honestly, I don't know of anything local other than hats and scarves. I'm waiting on an email back from the women's center here if they'd like to meet and see my crochet boobs :)

I like the idea of a hand's on approach to donating locally - I want to donate to the major projects too, I just want to see if there is a need here first.

Cris said...

Oh what a good idea! He signed you right up for a great ministry :) I can't wait to see some of your blankets!

Cris said...

LOL I don't want to spend that much money on bras I can't wear lolol

I just crochet because I love it so it tends to take up a lot of my time :P

This make me laugh--and what a sight you will be.  I am doing my first charity knitting this winter/ spring with my after work knitting gals. We are knitting blankets for an interim care center who get drug babies stable and ready to thrive in a home environment.  They send each babe home with a blanket. Makes one feel good to knit for things like this, doesn't it?
*smiles*

What a great charity donation! - and yes, it definitely feels good to be doing something worthwhile

I just love that picture - it made me chuckle!
I am curious to see your crochet breasts - whatever you're using them for, I'm sure it'll be worthwhile. After I posted my Customisable knitted Boob Recipe on Ravelry I have been interested to see their alternative uses - my favourite being a pair of boobs in a sewn bikini as a gift for someone who'd overcome breast cancer :)

Your list amazes me each time I see it - I love how methodical you are with your lists.

Wishing you a wonderful week,
Sarah

If I didn't keep my list in order, it would be total chaos :P

I am interested to see the usage - but I think I just mostly want to know that they are useful to someone. I'm going to go check out your website and Rav :)
