12 for 12 Charitable Giving Project
As many of you could figure, I am a huge fan of the blog and website Crochet Concupiscence. Kathryn is very knowledgable in crochet and crochet happenings and is always willing to share what she knows with the rest of the crochet community. If you haven't already, I highly suggest you follow her blog.
Another fun fact many of you are aware of is that I am a major supporter of charitable giving. Crochet is one of those ways that one can create and donate to local organizations in need or even those halfway across the world thanks to the power of the postal service.
I was very pleased to log into Google Reader and find a wonderful post by Kathryn called Join Me: 12 in '12 Charity Crochet Project.
I am hoping to be able to join Kathryn in this project as I am one to really advocate for charitable giving, especially with crochet and knit. I encourage you to read more of the details on Kathryn's post (linked above); however, to sum it up - she will be donating to 12 different charities - one a month - in the year 2012 and she is inviting you to do the same. What a wonderful idea!
In her introductory post to the project, she invites anyone else interested in participating on over to to join in on the fun. She has listed out her 12 charities (I'll leave that for your discovery). I definitely will be signing up for this project - now to figure out what charities I'll be donating to!
Per the project, I will be posting twice a month, on Sundays, talking about my charitable project progress. Unlike Kathryn, I'm going to announce what charity I am crocheting for in the first post of that month and then give a progress report in my second post for the month. Each month will contain the information/links from any previous months giving. This Sunday coming will be the 2nd Sunday of the month and I will be deciding who I will be crocheting for at that time.
Thank you, Kathryn, for a wonderful project that inspires the human spirit.
~ Cris

Thanks so much for joining me in this project and letting others know about it. Always helps to have some support to keep something like this on track and more fun!
Hi Cris,
It's great to see another crafter join in on the 12 for 12. I do a lot of charity work, so naturally I'm pleased that Kathryn's decided to encourage others to paricipate also. I'm looking forward to see what organizations you'll choose during the year.
