I thought I would take a quick moment to let you all know that the beast-ghan won first place in its category! I took one item in one category and won. That is SO exciting for me!
Honestly, I didn't think I'd win because the sheer volume and the afghan category is pretty darn popular - especially the crocheted category. I did not win overall best crochet or knitted item, but that's ok! The woman who won actually had several items she won on so who knows how many total she brought to the fair. It gives me something to shoot for next year!
Thank you all for the encouraging words as I worked through that beast of an afghan. You guys really helped a lot with keeping my focus and knowing that there really was light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you!
As for my family - they are very pleased with the win. They know I worked really hard on it (and complained about how big it was and why oh why did I choose an afghan that I'd be working on in 110 degrees *laughs*). I found out last night and this morning, when I got in my car to go to work, the Man had got me a card and wrote a nice little note in it about how he thought I really deserved the win and that he was happy for me. That was a nice surprise.
The fairgrounds open later this week. I think I'll be headed out there on Saturday so look for a post showing the beast-ghan on display with its ribbon AND lots of other really fantastic fiber art creations from other talented individuals.

Congrats! Your beast-ghan is lovely!
Oh Congratulations that is just wonderful, knew you could win and it was such a lovely ghan, see its sometimes not all about complicated, there is beauty in simplicity and elegance something your ghan had in abundance and something the judges liked to.
Good job! What a nice recognition of your work.
That is awesome! Hearty and celebratory congrats are sent to you!
