Those who follow my blog and YouTube channel should know that I have a contest going on right now. That contest is to post a blog entry or a video response with a story about charitable giving. The story can be about an organization, a certain situation, or anything really - as long as it is from the heart.

I was contacted by one of my YouTube followers who does not post videos and does not have a blog. While she was thankful I was having a contest, she could not participate. I didn't feel this was right considering this giveaway is to celebrate those who follow my channel or blog in some fashion.

I extended the offer to allow guest posting on my blog, and she accepted. Below is her entry to my March 2012 giveaway.

I don't know if any of you saw or knew, but Crochet Concupiscence had a giveaway - and I'm one of the winners!

Knit Picks Dishie Contest

I always have my eye open for yarn contests. I saw this one tweeted and thought it would be good to share with my reader base, who - of course, are primarily crocheters and some knitters.

The contest information is found here.

The general premise is to design (YAY) a dishcloth and send in an image of said dishcloth.

Easy enough, eh?

What I don't see is that the dishcloth must be made of the new yarn "Dishie."

The contest ends May 15th so if you wish to participate, you may want to get crack-a-lackin' nowish. While I do not think I'll be participating in this contest due to it being the end of my academic semester, I do think I'll be placing an order for some of the new Dishie yarn.

Crochet Content

Hello, everyone!

It has been a few since I updated my blog with anything and today will be no different. I don't technically have an update, but I do have a question... perhaps more like an idea I'd like to run by you all.

I was just having a conversation with a co-worker via email about crochet. She brought up showing her three younger cousins how to crochet - and they are lefties. She said it was hard doing everything as a mirror image to what she was used to. She even said that later that night, she had to put her crochet down because she had confused herself with trying to show them how to crochet backwards.

So - is this the case? Is left-handed crochet only a mirror image of right-handed?

Obviously, from my videos, I am a right-handed crocheter, but my thoughts are this: if left-handed is nothing more than a mirror image, I could "flip" my current crochet videos and provide a right- and left- version of whatever I am demonstrating. I have the software to do it, I just never thought to do it before.

I know there are a few people on YouTube who already do this, - do you think it's tasteless to "mimic" what they are doing just in my own videos? Obviously, I am building my own video library here, so it makes sense to just do it.

I'm just struggling with 1) is left-handed crochet truly a mirror image of right-handed and 2) is it tacky to just flip a video and 3) would I be a copy cat?

I'd appreciate your input on this.
