My New Button Tin

While going through my Feedly, I came across a post from DIy's Hooks and Yarns - a button giveaway - and it reminded me that I have not shared any images of my new button tin.

First, for the giveaway, you must leave a comment by Tuesday. I'm not one to generate my own competition (because quite frankly, I would LOVE to get those buttons), but I also want to share the blog with you and generate some traffic to Debi.

Anywhoozles, seeing her giveaway reminded me to share my new button tin. Now, that statement may give you the assumption that I have an "old" button tin - but I don't. I have always loved buttons - I remember when I was a little girl and my grandma would let me play in her button tin. I liked scooping the buttons up and letting them trickle between my fingers like sand - being into texture (as most yarnies are), it was just a pleasure to play in her tin of buttons.

Since obtaining my own craft room, my buttons resided in various zip lock bags - some loose, others still on
their original cardboard holder. It was a rather pathetic display, if you ask me. My grandmother would have smirked, I'm sure of it.... she would have probably even went and bought me a proper tin for my buttons.

Well, Grandma, I'm no slacker - I have a new tin!

I picked it up at a local antique store. It's tin... of course - black in color with what looks like a cross-stitched pattern of flowers on the top and a pattern around the outside. What makes it even better it that it has two handles, much like a picnic basket - all in all its in great condition. The inside is a bit scratched up but hey - that's to be expected.

I would like to do a bit more research on the tin, but honestly - I have no idea where to begin.

Once I transferred all my buttons into the tin, I realized I have very few buttons at all! How does that happen?

Do you keep a button tin? Post a photo and post the URL in the comments section here. I'd love to see where you keep your buttons.

As a reformed "ziplock bag for my buttons" kinda gal, I highly recommend a trip to a local antique store to look for a tin :)
