Plastic into Yarn - PLARN!

Up-cycling (or recycling for simplicity) is important in today's day and age. It is always nice to make something from another item rather than just tossing into a recycle bin and hoping that it's taken care of properly.

This is a video tutorial on how I make plarn - or plastic yarn. Please enjoy and leave a comment. If you like the video - I'd appreciate a "thumb's up" for the effort.

Thanks!

They actually make great, more sturdy bags once crocheted. Hopefully you give it a whirl :)

Thank you for the new (old) idea.  My grandmother and one of my father's cousins used to crochet with bread bags but that was before I started crocheting.  I am thrilled to learn how to do it.

Great job on the video!  I will be making a lot of plarn rather than recycling all those bags.
Thanks.

This was very interesting to watch and unique, to what an easy, inexpensive plastic bag can do,  that can be worked into a project, such as a pot scrubber.  Never knew before what Plarn was and how it could be used for, other than recycling.  Thank you for the video lesson.  It would certainly be challenging I think, to try and master it with crocheting it into the yarn. At least, you wouldn't feel it would be wasteful when it no longer performs.  Right? Ha!

You are very right! I don't feel bad at all - and if I did, I could always cut the plastic off the yarn and toss it into the recycle bins at the store :)

Great information. I was given a pot scrubber last year for Christmas and wanted to make more but was never able to find out how. I will be using this information right away. Thank you for the information.
